A composition for topical use, particularly having spermicide, virulici­de, disinfectant activity, comprises a partially pre-hydrated vehicle capable of readily absorbing biological fluids, together with one or more substances having the activities of the above specified type. The composition according to the invention are particularly effective as chemical prophylactics against the transmission through biological fluids of viruses responsible of Herpes genitalis and of the virus responsible of the disease called AIDS.
