USPTO Abstract
An improvement in the use of bioresorbable polymers for implantation into living tissue is described, characterized in that a particular molecular weight range is selected that demonstrates an unexpectedly beneficial effect on cell growth and regeneration of function. High molecular weight bioresorbable polymers composed of one or more alphahydroxy carboxylic acids may be fashioned into implantation devices such as nerve channels, to promote the processes of neuronal growth and regeneration of function in severed nerves.
