This invention provides a piperidine compound of the formula. wherein R 1 is hydrogen or trihalomethyl, R 2 is hydrogen or protected carboxy, R 3 is heterocyclic group or aryl which may have halogen, and hydroxy, O and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. This compound possesses hypotensive activity and are useful as anti-hypertensive agent. The invention further relates to processes for the preparation of this compound and pharmaceutical composition comprising compound of the above formula.
