In a preferred embodiment, the multilayer film (200) comprises, in order, a polyolefin layer (202), a first layer (204) comprising ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), a core layer comprising polylactic acid (PLA), a second layer comprising EVA (208), and a sealant layer (210). A method and system for forming the multilayer film is also disclosed.
