USPTO Abstract

Compositions and methods for treating alopecia, particularly chemotherapy-induced alopecia, using oxidizers or oxidants, pro-oxidant compounds, or activators of P53. Compositions comprising organic peroxides such as, cumene hydroperoxide, tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP), hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxide are preferred. Compositions may be applied subcutaneously, percutaneously, or topically. Most preferably, the compositions are applied to a treatment area prior to a round of chemotherapy to prevent or reduce hair loss in the treatment area.
