A metered dose inhaler is further improved by exploiting characteristics of an aerosol can. The inhaler has a housing body (2), an aerosol can (3), a dose counter (10), and an operation cap (20). The aerosol can (3) has a can body (3a), a valve stem (3b) held at a fixed position in the housing (2), and a spring for urging the valve stem, where the can body (3a) is supported in the housing body (2) such that the can body (3a) can be pushed in against force of the spring. The dose counter (10) has indication members (12, 13) rotatably supported in the housing body (2) and also has an operation lever (14) rockably supported in the housing body (2) to perform rotation operation of the display member (13). The operation cap (20) has a connection section pivotably connected to the operation lever (14) and also has a cap section (20b) fitted on the can body (3a) from its bottom side, and rocks the operation lever (14).
