Mechanism of action
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) binds to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) in target tissues, modulating the expression of genes involved in calcium absorption, bone metabolism, and immune regulation. At high doses, it may exert immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects beyond classical calcium homeostasis, potentially beneficial in conditions with dysregulated immune responses or chronic inflammation.
