Mechanism of action
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) and folic acid (vitamin B9) work synergistically as cofactors in methylation and nucleotide synthesis pathways. B12 is required for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine and for myelin formation, while folic acid provides one-carbon units for DNA and RNA synthesis. Together, they prevent megaloblastic anemia and support proper cell division and neurological health.
