Mechanism of action

bOPV is a live attenuated vaccine containing weakened strains of poliovirus types 1 and 3. When administered orally, it replicates in the intestinal tract and triggers both mucosal and systemic immune responses, generating neutralizing antibodies and cellular immunity. This protects vaccinated individuals from infection and disease caused by wild-type poliovirus.
