Mechanism of action

The vaccine contains either live attenuated (weakened) or inactivated typhoid bacteria, or purified polysaccharide capsular antigen, which triggers both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. This allows the body to recognize and mount a rapid defense against natural infection with S. typhi, preventing or reducing the severity of typhoid disease.
