Surgery with Naproxen
Surgery with Naproxen is a Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Small molecule drug developed by Giovana Maria Weckwerth. It is currently FDA-approved for Post-operative pain and inflammation management, Acute pain following surgical procedures. Also known as: Lower third molar surgery with Naproxen.
Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, thereby decreasing inflammation and pain.
Naproxen is a small molecule used in multi-modal pain management after outpatient orthopaedic surgery, specifically studied in conditions such as postoperative pain after knee and shoulder arthroscopy. It is one of the interventions being studied in a prospective randomized trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Mechanism of action
Naproxen blocks COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin levels, naproxen provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. When used perioperatively with surgery, it helps manage post-operative pain and inflammation.
