Mechanism of action
Stannous ions bind to tooth enamel to form a protective fluorapatite layer that resists demineralization, while also having antimicrobial properties that reduce plaque-forming bacteria and their acid production. The fluoride component provides additional caries protection by promoting remineralization of early enamel lesions.
