Mechanism of action

Sodium hypochlorite dissociates in aqueous solution to form hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a potent oxidizing agent. This oxidative action disrupts microbial cell membranes, denatures proteins, and damages nucleic acids, leading to rapid microbial death. It is non-selective and effective against a wide range of pathogens including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores.
