Mechanism of action

Fissure sealants are resin-based or glass ionomer materials that are applied to the occlusal (chewing) surfaces of teeth, particularly molars and premolars. They flow into and mechanically seal the natural grooves and fissures where food debris and bacteria accumulate, creating a physical barrier that prevents cavity formation in these high-risk areas.
