Mechanism of action
Prednisone works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines, while vincristine prevents the formation of microtubules necessary for cell division, leading to cell cycle arrest. Mercaptopurine, on the other hand, is metabolized into its active form, which then inhibits xanthine oxidase and interferes with DNA synthesis, ultimately leading to cell death.
