Mechanism of action
Cilostazol is a selective PDE-3 inhibitor that increases intracellular cAMP in platelets and vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in reduced platelet aggregation and improved blood flow. The sustained-release (SR) formulation provides prolonged therapeutic levels. It is used primarily to improve walking distance in patients with intermittent claudication due to peripheral arterial disease.
