Mechanism of action
Soap contains surfactant molecules that have hydrophobic and hydrophilic ends, allowing them to surround and suspend dirt, oils, and microbes so they can be rinsed away with water. Unlike antibacterial soaps, it does not chemically kill microorganisms but relies on mechanical removal through washing action. This is the traditional mechanism of soap-based cleansing.
