Mechanism of action

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA and DHA) are incorporated into cell membranes and serve as substrates for the production of anti-inflammatory mediators (resolvins, protectins, lipoxins) while displacing arachidonic acid-derived pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. They also activate GPR120 and other G-protein coupled receptors, reduce NF-κB signaling, and lower hepatic triglyceride synthesis through AMPK activation and reduced SREBP-1c expression.
