Mechanism of action

This combination of amphetamine isomers acts as a sympathomimetic amine that stimulates the release of catecholamines (dopamine and norepinephrine) from presynaptic neurons and inhibits their reuptake, leading to increased synaptic concentrations. The extended-release formulation provides sustained therapeutic levels throughout the day. This mechanism improves executive function, attention span, and impulse control in patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
