Mechanism of action
L. reuteri produces short-chain fatty acids and other metabolites that strengthen the intestinal barrier, reduce pathogenic bacteria, and promote beneficial immune responses. It enhances gut barrier function through tight junction protein expression and reduces systemic inflammation through modulation of T regulatory cells and other immune pathways.
