Mechanism of action
Fortrans works by creating an osmotic gradient in the intestinal lumen, which pulls water from the bloodstream into the bowel. This increases stool bulk and promotes peristalsis, leading to bowel cleansing. It is commonly used for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy or other gastrointestinal procedures.
