Mechanism of action

Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that binds to glucocorticoid receptors in the cytoplasm, translocates to the nucleus, and modulates gene transcription to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine production, reduce immune cell activation, and decrease vascular permeability. The intravenous infusion formulation allows rapid systemic delivery for acute inflammatory or immunological conditions.
