Mechanism of action

Glucosamine is a precursor for glycosaminoglycan synthesis, which helps maintain cartilage matrix integrity and may reduce cartilage breakdown. Chondroitin sulfate is a structural component of cartilage that may help retain water and resist compression. Together, these agents are thought to slow osteoarthritic progression and provide symptomatic relief.
