Mechanism of action
Vaccines work by introducing a weakened or inactivated form of a pathogen (or its components) to train the immune system to produce antibodies and cellular immunity against that pathogen. This allows the body to mount a rapid and effective immune response upon future exposure to the actual disease agent.
