contrast agent (iodixanol)
contrast agent (iodixanol) is a Non-ionic iso-osmolar contrast medium Small molecule drug developed by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. It is currently FDA-approved for Coronary angiography and ventriculography, Peripheral vascular angiography, Computed tomography imaging.
Iodixanol is a non-ionic, iso-osmolar contrast medium that provides radiographic visualization of blood vessels and organs by absorbing X-rays due to its high iodine content.
Iodixanol is a diagnostic agent used in various medical conditions, including coronary artery disease, acute kidney injury, and glioblastoma, as indicated by ClinicalTrials.gov. According to ChEMBL, its mechanism of action is as a diagnostic agent, but its modality is unknown.

Mechanism of action
Iodixanol is an osmotically balanced contrast agent with an osmolality equal to blood plasma (~290 mOsm/kg), which reduces the osmotic gradient and associated physiological stress compared to hyperosmolar agents. The iodine atoms in its molecular structure have high atomic number and density, making them radiopaque and allowing visualization of vascular and organ structures during radiographic imaging procedures.
