Clindamycin + primaquine
Clindamycin + primaquine is a Antibiotic + antiprotozoal combination Small molecule drug developed by McGill University Health Centre/Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. It is currently FDA-approved for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) prophylaxis and treatment.
Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis while primaquine acts as an antimalarial and antiprotozoal agent, together targeting Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP).

Mechanism of action
Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that binds to bacterial ribosomes and inhibits protein synthesis. Primaquine is an 8-aminoquinoline that generates reactive oxygen species within protozoal parasites, disrupting their metabolism. This combination is used to treat PCP, particularly in patients who cannot tolerate trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
