Mechanism of action
Calcined magnesia is a basic inorganic compound that neutralizes hydrochloric acid in the stomach, raising gastric pH and providing symptomatic relief of acid-related disorders. It also has osmotic laxative properties, drawing water into the intestinal lumen to promote bowel evacuation. The compound may also have anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective effects on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
