Mechanism of action
As a topical ophthalmic NSAID, bromfenac blocks COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, thereby decreasing production of inflammatory prostaglandins in ocular tissues. This reduces inflammation, pain, and photophobia associated with ocular surgery and inflammatory conditions. The 0.075% formulation is applied topically to achieve local anti-inflammatory effects in the anterior segment of the eye.
