Mechanism of action
Amoxicillin works by binding to penicillin-binding proteins on the bacterial cell wall, preventing the formation of a functional cell wall and ultimately leading to cell lysis and death. Gentamicin, on the other hand, binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, interfering with protein synthesis and ultimately leading to bacterial death.
